What is Easter?

Easter is the day that Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Christians choose to celebrate this resurrection, because they believe that Jesus was crucified, died, and was raised from the dead in order to pay the penalty for sin. His death assured that believers would have eternal life.

There are several Easter traditions that are solely Christian. Here in our country, the most famous tradition for christian teens is by making and decorating Easter eggs. Eggs were often a symbol of everlasting life, and adopted by Christians to represent rebirth while for some do enjoy how these symbols help them grow deeper in their faith.  In some other countries, there are many celebrations that occur in the Spring, and some say that the dates of Easter were actually designed to coincide with the Anglo-Saxon celebration of the goddess Eostre, who represented Spring and fertility. Since the Philippines is a tropical country, we only have two seasons. Spring isn’t included, but I really love the Spring colors. I get to play with them with fashion and not to mention, Food!

Week ago, I saw KRISPY KREME‘s updates through facebook and happened to see their latest doughnut craze, The easter egg-shapped doughnut! Its really cute, they have yummy flavors with their corresponding colors. So I rushed to the nearest branch of Krispy Kreme from our place, Bonifacio High Streets. It is located in Taguig City. It is one of my favorite kill-time-place. The ambiance there is perfectly relaxing. So ya, I can’t help but try one of those egg-shaped doughnuts and match it with the store’s hawaiian punch. Yipee! a cool food combi that will contribute to your summer cravings. Your favorite doughnut comes in egg-shape. It is available only from 28th of March through 8th of April 2012. Grab ’em now!

INKED.

I have been planning to do this since then, thought about it for the nth time and still end up with the same decision. So ya, i got inked just a few days ago. I searched for every detail of what i have to know before getting inked. Through the help of the fast rising tech of this extraordinary world, I made a customized design of my own. But of course, if you will be planning to give yourself the pain of getting inked, make sure that it’ll be meaningful. Alright, I chose a word design tat that will symbolize my personality and my thoughts, something priceless and relevant that I will ought to carry a lifetime.

LOVE CONQUERS ALL in french translation– L’ amour vainc tout. Obviously, I am inlove with the french language and that makes it my number one reason. Secondly, the phrase tells it all, I have been through a lot and my world revolved around it, well i guess everybody does. But as for me love is my survival. As long as I am alive, I will never stop believing that each one of us is destined to find their one true love. Just recently, I have been struggling to win a battle with my emotions. I was about to give up but then I came up with a decision in which i will leave me a mark in my own history. That’s when I finally decided to get my first tattoo, and these words will always be whispered on my heart by my passionate mind,  I’D RATHER BE HURT THAN YOU. Masochist, I admit, because that’s how I see love. Third, On my spine / back for a reason that wherever love will take me, I’d be willing to take the risk and sacrifice. Just as how our creator carry the cross for our sins. Lastly, normal letters in a complicated font, for people to see, and a little prevention not to be laughed of if written in a wrong way.

Beauty without pain is not worth celebrating.

Choices

During a commencement exercise I attended a few months ago, a renowned Executive Chef encouraged her students to make choices, for life is filled with it.

It’s been weeks since I wrote something, for the very reason that my mind fussed over  a whirlwind of troubles and my heart ached with anxiety for petty issues that metamorphosed into problems I could not solve. I was alone, or at least I felt pretty lonely.

This will be my very first personal write-up on the account of the progeny of my soul. I rarely document my feelings in a public digital portal, but maybe this entry might benefit someone who is trekking the same path I have been hiking for the longest time. My fears and lack of self-confidence has repelled a handful of opportunities for me. Most of which would have sped my growth to success, but my inhibitions served as a comfort zone and forbade me to explore what was out there.

Overlooking : a breath of fresh air

In our tropical zone country, there are some high places to visit for us to somehow feel a little low temperature (compared to Metro Manila) for quite some time early this summer. Tagaytay is easily reached from Metro Manila via the Coastal Road or the South Superhighway. Since we are from Makati City we took the C5 road to reach South Superhighway, from there to Santa Rosa exit  then turned right to reach the entrance of Tagaytay City. Since its Sunday (family day for us), there is much less traffic in South Superhighway compared to weekdays.

So, here’s the story, My dad, bro, sis and I decided to grab some coffee outside Metro and went straight to Tagaytay, funny how we happily bond together and just go somewhere just for the sake of saying “para naman maiba”. Its a good thing that we come to visit the place once in a while since its an-hour-and-a-half-drive from our place. Selfishly speaking, i also needed to breathe some fresh air. I tend to complicate things at times, and i guess breathing and relaxing a bit makes me feel at ease or relieved. Each and every one of us are struggling for some peace of mind. And I believe, that giving up is never an answer. Especially, if at one moment you get to see the world on a dark side. Think again. Hey, we still have something to marvel about — our Almighty God’s creation. Anyhow, we also tried the famous Mushroom burger in Tagaytay, I can’t even remember when was the last time I ate that yummy burger. HAHA

We took some random shots from the overlooking place to complete the story of our day. Here’s some shots, I hope you’ll like it!

go ombre!

Ombre is a french term for shades or shading. Pretty cool shades of pastel colors best suits summer. Plus, experimenting it with diff’rent shades are far way refreshing (just don’t overdo it). Got some ideas? Here’s some:

Make use of your colorful imagination and enjoy the summer season. Instead of throwing your anger with the heat of the sun, why not color your everyday-summer-season fashion with these tot’lly awesome pastel shades? Go to the hottest summer destination spots in the Philippines. Wear your ombre fashion wardrobe!

Who says those are the only things that can be ombre-ed?

Ta-dahhh!

Go get your hair done and call it fab-FAD! If you have an asian hair and dyed it with light blonde for example and your hair color goes down its not dilemma, its FAD!

Take thou, what’s written in your prescription today:

Go ombre! Start your day right, smile and face the sunlight.

Top 10 must-haves

The Row by Mary-Kate and Ashley is one of my favorite fashion ads. You can achieve different types of looks even with just a few fashion pieces. Just stick with the basic neutral shades – for starters. This is applicable for those who have not found their niche in dressing up just yet. But if you are the adventurous type with a lot of money to spare, then go forth…splurge.

It would be absolutely thrilling to have a closet filled with all types of blouses, jeans and skirts, but if you are like me who cannot afford such lifestyle, you are good to go with at least the basics, then go gaga on accessories. I stick to the neutral shades, they are best whenever I go to work or to a simple lunch out during weekends.

Victoria’s Secret Sheer Addictions

Out with the cold and in with the bold

…colors of summer! With the 32 degree temperature in Manila, we can officially say it’s that time of the year for the sun, sand and sea!

VS offers a collection that is not only fit for a stroll along the beach, but also a selection of summer dresses that can be worn indoors, for those who prefer to stay clear of the UV rays.

It’s the season to have an excuse to show off some skin! the heat brought about by the fact that we are a tropical country is not a laughing matter. There is not a day or time since the start of March that sweat did not trickle down my skin.

Now is definitely the time to walk around sporting a short summer dress without appearing too revealing. If it took you an eternity to achieve a bod that you’ve been dreaming of, might as well, FLAUNT IT!

For the little less daring…

The maxi dress is a personal favorite and is a must-have in the closet! It is flirty frock for a morning brunch or a dinner date!

Though we do not really have a VS store in Manila, there are a lot of other stores that offer the same style of dresses. But then again, their is such a thing as online shopping!

Happy Summer!

No great love ever came without great struggle

In my 24 years of existence, this God-given-life has been a storm in a teacup for me. Not until I realize that millions of people living in this world is more ill-fated compared to me. And that, I have had a lot of growing up to do.

Wayback college, specifically- from year three, I used to consider that love from a partner is the second most important thing on earth. Well, partly because I was seeking for someone that can fill an empty part of me (love inside our home). Regardless of my age back then, Love was enchanting. I used to believe that when you come to meet the parenterals of both parties and got their permission to date, life will be much more easier. I thought that love is as simple as meeting the old folks. And then everything else will follow. But I was wrong. Love was never splendidly perfect. I admit, my failed relationships took away all the love that I can give. I developed negative insights. I became untrustful of men. Nevertheless, those pain never stopped me from being capable of loving and believe that there is one person that is destined for us.

Most people would say, that the reason why we are left by the ones we loved is because we deserve someone better. I just have to say though, that i will not choose to settle with someone better since “better” is a comparative adjective. Instead, i will choose to settle with the one that would make me a better, worthier girl.

Long Live the Queen

I have been a fan of the UK since time in memorial. I am in love with their fashion, their music and most especially, their accent. I grew up listening to Spice Girls, particularly favoring the very Posh, Victoria Beckham.

Middle of last year, I had the chance to visit the land of the Beatles, walk along the street where Danny Donoghue declared that he was a man who cannot be moved and visit the famous church that wed Prince William and Kate Middleton.

I selected a few pieces of apparel that will somehow make me a Brit, at least in fashion. I sported wide-rimmed hats, frilly patterned skirts with leggings and of course, a trench coat.

Let’s talk British.

Here are some of English faves:

Little Miss Moue

Moue is a french word for “pout“. Yes, I am Little Miss Pout. I embrace the title cheerfully. Pouting may be technically defined as an expression of displeasure but as for me it is an art that never goes out of style, never fails to be effective and beautiful. It is a trend that girls often do when being photographed. And with lipstick on, one turns from pretty to prettier.

Every time I went out and go to those Kikay section of one shop to another, these damn waxy solid colorful stick cosmetic has always been an eye-catcher to me. I go gaga over doll-like colored lipsticks, I am bewitched by them. (Try Etude House‘s VIP Girl Lipstick shades) Whenever i get a chance to purchase one, I feel relieved. Knowing that my mom was addicted to lipsticks too. It reminds me of how my late beautiful mom fashions her favorite lipstick shades even when she’s just inside the house.

“It is a treasure, a precious memory. “
