WALKWAY : Reflections on the Stations of the Cross 2012

WALKWAY : Reflections on the Stations of the Cross 2012

Yesterday, 3rd of April 2012, I and my family went out to have dinner at North Park in Taguig City. Right after we had our supper we crossed the road and went straight to Bonifacio High Street, BGC to witness an art exhibit for the second time, same place, same season.

Walkway: Reflections on the Stations of the Cross is a widely successful interactive art exhibit that attracted tens of thousands of people in Bonifacio High Street. It is merely the fourth installation of Church Simplified ( a group of friends who carries a simple goal and that is- to strip church down to the basics )

I am really eager to write about this. First, I rarely join our folks who goes through a number of churches for Bisita Iglesia every Holy week. Secondly, I want to share this experience for some who don’t have the time or whatever means to visit the place. I want to help you comtemplate spiritually and remind us how God suffered and died for our sins. Basically, this is just one of the religious traditions that each one of us ought to know about. Honestly, I was not prepared to go there last night I was not able to bring a better camera with me so instead I used my own mobile phone(forgive me for the low-res snapshots that i am about to share).

1 ACT

2 ACT : When we decided to devote our lives to anything less than God, we find ourselves on the losing end of the deal. The question is, for what are you seiling yourself about ?

The scales represent the different matters that we usually trade God in for. Take this time to think about a particular area in your life that you’ve been giving your heart to, and place a marble in the corresponding slot.

Before you move on, consider this prayer:
Father, help me to want to love you above all.

3 ACT : There are times when we pre judge other people too quickly. Often we make hard conclusions about people even before we get a chance to hear their complete stories and in a sense, cast our hasty stone of judgement. Pick up a stone from the bin in this station.

As you look at it remind you of a person you have formed your own negative opinion on. Reflect and listen to what your heart has to say about him or her.

Would you take this opportunity to ask God to renew your heart and transform it into one that gives people a benefit of the doubt.

4 ACT : Pontius Pilate could have re-written the story. He could have saved an innocent man, from being unjustly executed, but he chose to wash his hands and please the crowd. ‘

Today, this moment you are presented with a chance to change a story for the better. The story of someone who is, innocent and blameless, the story of a child.

For a donation of 5 pesos ( or more ) you can help pay for the case and education of one child. Hopefully for a year.

Donations from the situation will be forwarded to the “Sponsor a child” program of WE International Philippines, for more Info. Visit www.weinternational.org.ph

Let’s rewrite their story. Don’t wash your hands.

5 ACT : Take this moment to pray for yourself or someone you know who needs physical or emotional healing. We can come and appeal to God for requests like these because Jesus was beaten to make us whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

6 ACT : Think about one thing you did wrong in your life that has caused you deep pain. God wants to rewrite your story. Leave the stone (judgement) you picked from station 3 and get a piece of cloth.

7 ACT : CARRY THE CROSS ON YOUR SHOULDER ( I tried to carry one and it is quite heavy, seriously. Pause for a moment, and you can just imagine how he suffered for us)

8 ACT : HELP PRAY FOR SOMEONE AND WRITE YOUR OWN PRAYER

9 ACT : John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave us his only son”

10 ACT : Think about your family, How is everything? We often make the mistake of waiting long before we tell the people in our own families how much they mean to us. You have this moment.

If you are with them, Grab this opportunity and let them know how much you love them. If you are not with your family, and you have a cellphone. Would you continue making a call right here and now to someone who needs to hear that they matter to you. Make this time to thank God for each of them.

11 ACT : Will you choose to put your faith and trust in who Jesus is and what he has done for you? It’s as simple as the thief’s prayer:

“God I know that I am a sinner, and I rightly deserve all of its consequences. But because of your love for me, you sacrificed your son, Jesus to save me from my sin. thank you for this. Today, I place my trust in Jesus as my Lord, and Savior. Help me live out their prayer, Amen.”

Please take a card from the pew.

12 ACT : BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE DARKNESS, SAY A PRAYER. Then, Go ahead turn the curtains and see the lights.

13 ACT : TAKE A CARD FROM THE TABLE AND WRITE THE NAME OF THE PERSON THAT HAS TOUCHED YOUR LIFE IN A SPECIAL WAY, OFFER UP A PRAYER OF BLESSING FOR THAT PERSON.

14 ACT : TAKE A PIECE OF BREAD AND A CUP OF WINE

My dad, I and my sib purchased T-shirts and a CD with songs.

The Walkway event will run from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday:

April 1 to April 8, 2012
Bonifacio High Street
Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

Thank you for your time, I hope this can help you reflect. 🙂
